My name is Rabia Haji, originally born and raised on the island of Zanzibar, Tanzania, East Africa and later relocated to the United Kingdom in the 1980s where I built a family.
I am just an ordinary mum of two demanding beautiful teenage daughters who keep me grounded at most times.
I am also a woman who wear a few hats: a software developer by trade, an enthusiast educator and a devoted entrepreneur.
My main ‘objective‘ and sole ‘mission’ for creating the Entrepreneur Friend blog is to provide a credible Entrepreneurial Resource for newbies, aspiring and struggling entrepreneurs to:
- Gain clarity on starting, building and scaling successful online businesses
- Help map out their business’s journey in the right way so they too can succeed sooner
- Provide a platform for like-minded entrepreneurs to collaborate and engage with each other in a friendly way
- Share inspiration, tips and strategies on entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and ‘mindset‘ development
To ‘inspire’ and ‘empower’ You to reach and rise up to your full potential.
My hope is that you will benefit from my personal experience, perspectives, insights, and knowledge on all things relating to:
- Digital entrepreneurship
- Entrepreneurial inspiration
- Self-empowerment as well as …
- Creating a meaningful Impact on Communities and the Greater World
I further hope that you will be motivated to ‘spread’ your wings to…
…reach much greater heights so that you too, will be encouraged to help other people also ‘unleash’ their hidden, possible human potential.
“Together we stand to make a much bigger impact in the world quicker than we would individually” –Rabia Haji
Since graduating from university, I have been doing the 9 to 5 none stop.
The only time I remember having a break was when I went on maternity leave for three months with my first child and six months with my second.
As a mother, I strongly felt I should be at home looking after my children, but the reality was different.
This option was denied to me as I had no choice but to return to work and provide for myself and a young family.
I was a single mum with so much debt, hardly surviving on maternity pay I was given.
I juggled motherhood and work for many years as many mothers in a similar situation will do.
There came a point in my life when I questioned everything about my lifestyle.
I worked very hard, yet the money disappeared so quickly, at the end of the month I was always broke.
I did not by any means live beyond my ability.
Just made enough to pay the bills, taking care of my responsibilities and support of my family.
I worked long hours and hardly saw much of my family.
My eldest daughter once complained to me and said “mum all you do is work”, you can imagine how hurtful that felt when she said it.
I had to swallow it, she was right in a way, but I had no alternative to give her that I will be home early from now on. I broke so many promises before.
The commute to work was a nightmare as I had to make use of public transport. When it was good, life was easier but increasingly it has been getting worse over the years.
I could write a whole book about the miseries my fellow commuters and I faced daily.
You never quite know what to expect when you arrive at the train station or how your day will end.
You just have to take it as it comes. By the way, I was doing this for more than 14 years.
To cut a long story short, I began to look for ways to make extra money to improve my financial situation and quality of life.
I also worked on Saturdays whenever I got the opportunity.
This made me realize it was not sustainable in the long run as it left me with little time for myself and family.
It was better to struggle for the time being and hustle.
Put a plan in place which will offer me the kind of life I desperately desired to have financial, time and location freedom as well as allowing me to avoid the rat race.
The most precious commodity we all have after loved ones, sanity and sound health is time and once is gone we can’t bring it back.
I found myself years were passing me by, getting older but my life remained unfulfilled.
My Turning Point
I knew something had to change.
What I wanted could be achieved If I either work for myself, win the lottery which is unlikely as I don’t do the lottery or inherit lots of money.
I started to explore the possibility of going into business though I had no prior knowledge of running a business be it offline or online.
I am not joking when I say I failed many times.
I took the failures as part of the process of becoming successful.
The most important lesson I learned was never to quit and despair when things don’t go according to plan and I am faced with difficult challenges.
I heard this phrase from somewhere “Quitters are losers and Winners never quit”.
After doing extensive research I chose to start an internet business as it resonated with me better given my circumstances.
This was the beginning of my entrepreneurship journey.
Since starting I have never looked back and the rest, as they say, is history.
I have also been exposed to the world of software development, e-commerce and, digital marketing.
I continue to explore more opportunities in my journey as an online entrepreneur.
My Pledge To You
By showing you that there is another way to improve the quality of your life, and at the same time, make a difference in the world through online entrepreneurship, good old fashion hard work, and personal dedication.
Becoming a digital entrepreneur is a big scary step to take but the reward, in the long run, is worth every bit of the pain you will go through.
I am not going to lie to you and say that it is easy or you will become a millionaire overnight as some people would like to claim.
The reality is very different … there are many hurdles to overcome.
…I should know better, I have been through them all.
With that being said …
It is definitely possible when you are shown how to with a proven system to follow step by step, even if you a complete beginner with no prior business knowledge or experience.
A proven system that will guide and support you at each stage of your journey.
